Hot genes

Updated: Jan 16, 2021

Does it run in the family, a love of spicy, hot food? My father has always been a lover of the chilli pepper, I can still remember the smell of the curries he would make every Saturday when I was growing up and yes, they were always hot!

Mustard was my first ‘hot’ love. That rush up the nose of English mustard in a ham sandwich, that slightly milder Dijon ‘kick’ with a roast chicken, or whole grain mustard with almost anything. My love of Tabasco continues to this very day, what a wonderfully authentic and beautifully produced product, I will always have a bottle in my cupboard, always.

But this sauce, my Lockdown Sauce, is something different. It is purposely hot, but it is more than that. It has depth, bags of fruity flavour, is made from five, yes only five ingredients and most importantly made with love!

To answer my original question, is the love of heat passed down through the generations? I don’t know the answer to that, but I’m looking forward to you trying my Hot Sauce and seeing if you can start a family tradition...!
